Rakyat Xcess, Ar-Rahnu X’Change launched in Lundu

LUNDU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar on Saturday (Jan 29) launched Rakyat Xcess and Ar-Rahnu X’Change in Lundu District.

The Santubong MP said the launch of Rakyat Xcess and Ar-Rahnu X’Change in Lundu would facilitate 36,000 residents here in carrying out various banking transactions at Bank Rakyat as well as benefit the local community by providing the facility to pawn jewellery quickly and safely.

“I hope that all residents around Lundu can make the most of the opening of Rakyat Xcess and Ar-Rahnu X’Change here by subscribing to the various banking products and services offered,” he said.

The launch was witnessed by Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Abd Rani Lebai Jaafar and chief executive officer Datuk Syed Abdul Aziz Syed Hassan.

Abd Rani said Bank Rakyat’s Ar-Rahnu X’Change business was very helpful to the people, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, floods, and economic challenges.

He said it also contributed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Value-Based Intermediation (VBI) of Bank Negara Malaysia.

“Aside from opening branches in small rural towns, Bank Rakyat also offers a mobile bank facility known as ARROW, which is an alternative channel that facilitates the rural and interior communities of Sarawak in conducting banking transactions without having to visit counters of bank branches in the city,” he said.

Meanwhile, Syed said the launch of Rakyat Xcess and Ar-Rahnu X’Change Lundu aimed to ensure that every strata of society could enjoy financial facilities and services.

He said the opening of the new branch in Lundu would be able to boost the socioeconomic status of the Lundu community to a more sustainable level.

In addition, the ceremony also saw Bank Rakyat handing over several contributions to ease the financial burden of entrepreneurs and the asnaf group around the district.

This included a contribution for Lundu district asnaf amounting to RM10,000, contribution for asnaf micro entrepreneurs (RM10,000), contribution for Orphans Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (PERYATIM) Sarawak asnaf (RM29,500), and one Bank Rakyat automated teller machine (ATM) in Sematan.
