BINTULU: A total of 75 various offence notices have been issued to seven Ramadan bazaars by both the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) and the Bintulu Divisional Health Office yesterday.

“Among the offences committed are failure to produce food handler documents, food handlers not wearing appropriate attire, food handlers wearing accessories, and improper food storage,” said BDA environmental health officer, Gan Chung Yuek.

Additionally, the health officers also took random food samples from the Ramadan bazaars for analysis.

Gan stressed that this operation began on the first day of Ramadan. As of March 26, a total of 7 Ramadan bazaar sites comprising 236 stalls have been inspected.

“The joint operation aims to ensure that food handlers consistently adhere to the terms and regulations set by the local authorities and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MoH) throughout this Ramadan month,” he said.

He went on to emphasise that food handlers must consistently comply with the prescribed regulations, which involve maintaining personal hygiene, cleanliness in food handling areas, and food vending locations.
