MPP deputy chairman Senator Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim said, “The council has taken into account suggestions from one of the organisers to also allow the sales of clothes such as baju kurung and baju Melayu as well as songkok.

“Fireworks and firecrackers are also allowed as long as the sellers have licences and permits to sell the items.

“Household items are also allowed to be sold in the bazaars,” he said during a press conference after the meeting of MPP Bazaar Ramadan 2023 at Dewan Majlis, MPP building yesterday (Feb 23).

“This year is quite different because we received a proposal from a trader who proposed that the bazaar be allowed to operate from 2 pm to 11 pm.

“We are trying to emulate the bazaars in Peninsular Malaysia where some of the traders do business until midnight,” he said.

Ahmad added that all hawkers at the Ramadan Bazaars must pay rents to the organisers and the payment deadline is March 17, 2023.

“The sales of electrical and other goods are also allowed while the Enforcement Officer of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) will monitor the prices of the goods.

“All traders have to put a price tag on every item sold. KPDNHEP also reminds every trader that all goods sold must be genuine,” he said.

At the same time, Ahmad also requested all traders especially workers and food stall operators to comply with all the conditions set by the MPP.
