SIBU: Property owners within the jurisdiction of the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) are urged to sign up for e-billing assessment rates to receive their bills directly via email.

The council said only 44.45 percent of assessment rate data in its system, totalling 23,467 property holdings as of Jan 31, are registered for e-billing.

“The council would like to encourage the public who have yet to register  for e-billing to register themselves and receive their bills directly by email.

“This mode of receiving assessment bills will avoid the wastage of paper and ensure the public are able to pay before the due date,” the council said in a statement today.

Beginning this year, the council will discontinue sending hardcopy assessment rate bills to property owners’ addresses.

With a total of 52,278 property owners under its jurisdiction, the council stressed the importance of opting for e-billing.

Property owners can register for e-billing assessment rates by scanning the QR code.
