SARIKEI: Parents have been reminded to give priority to their children’s education for them to be knowledgeable.

Deputy Minister for Urban Planning Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the Sarawak government is providing significant assistance towards educational development through existing agencies.

Among the initiatives are financial aid programmes that enable students to continue their tertiary education.

Len was speaking at the opening ceremony of the District Education Office (PPD) Sarikei Open Day on Sunday (Aug 27).

He noted that such programmes are part of the state government’s approach, facilitated by the State Education Department, to ensure that up-to-date and accurate information can be shared with students and the local community.

Len, who is the Kuala Rajang assemblyman, expressed hope that the conveyed information will be used by parents, teachers and students to make the best education-related choices for themselves.

Present at the event were Deputy Resident of Sarikei Division Badjuri Bidin, Sarikei district education officer Lau Ngie Tung, and Bank Rakyat Sarikei branch manager Yuhip Rabaie.
