MIRI: Sarawak should be given a fairer allocation in Budget 2023 which will be tabled on October 7, said Sibuti Member of Parliament Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
This, he said, is to ensure inclusivity in development. “The Budget must include comprehensive strategy to provide better facilities in the rural areas such as schools, health clinics and telecommunication networks,” he told a group of local media on Saturday after attending the ‘Merdeka @Parlimen’ programme at Taman Tunku here.
Lukanisman also hoped that the allocation for Sarawak would not be reduced as a result of the current economic conditions following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Citing Sibuti parliamentary constituency, Lukanisman said there were a lot to be done to fix rundown schools and health clinics.
“To carry out these repair works, we need huge allocations,” he said.
Lukanisman disclosed that he had requested allocation to build new schools and access roads beside constructing telecommunication towers in the Sibuti constituency.
“Currently, 21 telco towers are being built within my constituency and we hope that the federal government could help us in developing this infrastructure for the people’s well-being,” he said.
