SARIBAS: Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam went to the ground on Friday (Jan 7) with officers from the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) Betong Division to find a solution for the broken embankment in Kampung Manggut.

This issue occurred due to a recent high tide phenomenon which went up to 6.3 metres.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), while inspecting the site of the embankment, he also surveyed several houses of the villagers affected by the high tide.

Based on the explanation from DID Betong Division, to address the issue of the broken embankment, earthworks and the construction of a flap gate are needed to prevent the same issue from reoccurring in the future.

Such a proposal was presented to control the river flow which can affect the embankment.

Mohammad Razi, who is Assistant Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Development II, also presented a contribution to one of the residents of Kampung Manggut who needed it for the medical purposes.
