Responsive education system a priority in new economy

SERIAN: Priority needs to be given to a responsive education system in the new economy that is competitive especially on the global stage.

In stating this Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah pointed out that education and the development of a role model are crucial elements under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030).

“The transformation of the role model must be focussed on the preparation of more productive, effective and highly skilled human resource that could head towards the improvement of the family’s source of income and their way of life.

“We need to be more flexible, adapting and changeable,” he said during the closing of the Tarat Community Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CSR) here on Wednesday (Sept 27).

Towards this end Sagah said the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme will contribute towards a more progressive and inclusive country.

“The establishment of industry-led TVET will create a more balanced, entrepreneur-alike graduates, thus becoming more highly skilled workers that contribute to the productivity and development of the country’s economy.

“We need more talented, innovative and knowledgable workers in order for this to happen,” he added.

He stated that in the future, challenges in the working world will become more dynamic and more complex.

“In order to remain relevant and competitive, we need to give priority to training and knowledge.

“The youth who will become the role model of the country need to be smart in grabbing opportunities to nurture their interest in the latest technology application so that it could benefit their future career,” he added.

Deputy Minister Datuk Frances Harden Hollis, executive director of Sarawak Skills Hallman Sabri were among those present during the ceremony.
