KUCHING: The Ministry of Health (MOH) ordered a restaurant in Metrocity to be closed down effective yesterday after it was found to be unclean.

Based on the notice issued by the Kuching Divisional Health Office, the restaurant will be closed for 14 days from Jan 16 to 30.

The closure was executed under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983.

In addition, the restaurateur was also issued a compound notice for failing to maintain the cleanliness of the premises under Regulation 11 of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.

The offence can be compounded for a sum of RM1,000 or be prosecuted in the Magistrate’s Court with the permission of the deputy public prosecutor.

A survey at the premises found that it was in an unclean state in addition to having traces of rat excrement and rat droppings.
