PADAWAN: Officials from the Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA) inspected the Sungai Pangga Flood Mitigation Project site at Kampung Emperoh Jambu here on Friday.

The RM1 million project includes constructing a retaining wall and river cleaning and interior works, addressing frequent flash floods in the area.

The project, expected to start next year, will be overseen by the Sarawak Irrigation and Drainage Department (IDD), Kuching Division. It aims to protect residents, especially those in low-lying riverbank areas, from the impact of flash floods.

Additionally, the GKCDA has announced other development initiatives for the Mambong constituency. These include upgrading agricultural roads in Kampung Emperoh Jambu, Kampung Emperoh Karu, and Kampung Emperoh Semadang, and Kampung Simboh, with a total cost of RM3.7 million, also scheduled for next year.

Also present during the visit were Padawan Subdistrict Office Administrative Officer Kulius Scott Sapong, Mambong GKCDA Project Coordinating Officer James Sinjeng.
