KUCHING: The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) is targeting total investments of RM334 billion by 2030 with private investments of RM267 billion and government investments of RM67 billion.

In revealing this, Deputy Minister of Economy Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said the government hoped to create 2.5 million job opportunities in Sarawak with the economic diversification through SCORE.

“The Tanjung Manis Economic Growth Area (T-MEGA) is one of the areas that have been identified in the SCORE region which aims to drive economic development in Tanjung Manis and improve the standard of living of the local population.

“In addition to the timber industry, other industries focused on in the area include the shipbuilding and repair industry, palm oil-based industries, fisheries, agriculture, animal husbandry, aquaculture, as well as Halal food production and processing activities,” she said in reply to Oscar Ling (DAP-Sibu) in Parliament today (Feb 23).

Since T-MEGA was a green field area, Hanifah said the initial phase was to focus on development, basic infrastructure facilities such as roads, water supply, telecommunications, electricity and logistics infrastructure to support the basic needs of the planned industries and provide benefits to the local population.
