RM50,177.60 collected from Kuching Festival stall operators

KUCHING:  A total of RM50,177.60 was collected from stall operators at the Kuching Festival 2017 run by Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

The donations were distributed to 14 selected non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the MBKS areas.

Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia (Kuching), Sarawak Society for the Blind, Sarawak Society for the Deaf, Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group, Sarawak Cheshire Home, Kuching Autistic Association, The Salvation Army, Kuching Life Care Society, Society for Kuching Urban Poor, Hope Place Kuching, Wishesland and The Carnation Club of Kuching and Samarahan each received RM3,500.

Meanwhile, The Society for Critically Sick Children and Sarawak Hun Nam Siang T’ng each received RM3,800 and RM4,377.60 respectively.

The team from Mongolian Master Restaurant was named as the “Best Stall for Double Stall” while Stall No. 77 topped the “Premium Stall” category, with Stalls No. 38 and 102 following behind successively.

In the “Single Stall” category, the winner was  Stall No. 93 while Stalls No. 105 and 108 emerged runners-up.

In the “Half Stall” category, Stall No. 72A came out tops while Stalls No. 130A and 217A were  runners-up.

All of the prizes were presented by Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian during the “Festival Fair Presentation of Prizes and Collections for Charity Donations” at the MBKS Theatre at Jalan Padungan  here on Thursday night.

Also present was MBKS Mayor, Dato James Chan Khay Syn.

The annual festival will end on Aug 27.
