KUCHING: A total of RM99,302 has been allocated in the Meradong area through Sarikei’s Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) to implement flood mitigation projects in Jalan Sing Ba.

In a statement on today (Nov 9), it said the flood mitigation project includes four ditches and it is to overcome the issue of floods that often occurs in Jalan Sing Ba due to the problem of blocked and poor drainage causing the water levels to overflow during rainy seasons.

The project site handover ceremony was completed by Gung Chiu Kion, who represented Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Datuk Sri Huang Tiong Sii, in a brief ceremony on Monday (Nov 6).

Meanwhile, the statement said a survey was made by the related authorities of all the four trenches that will be dug and cleaned along 3,690km.

Local residents, he said, are grateful to Huang for providing assistance and caring about the wellbeing of the people.
