KUCHING: The state government is planning to build a new road connecting two areas, namely Kampung Segong to Kampung Jugan, here.
Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the idea came about after he participated with the motocross riders group from Kampung Jugan across the jungle and hills trails to Kampung Segong several times.
“I realise that the time has come to build a road with a standard of Public Works Department (PWD) R1 status, which is a paved road.
“With this road, it can provide commuting facilities to the local community,” he said when chairing a meeting on the road project at the Ministry of Transport office at Bangunan Baitulmakmur here recently.
He said the proposed road project will be constructed at an estimated cost of RM44.5 million.
“When completed, this road will further facilitate farming activities and further shorten the travel time from the Singai area to Lundu and the surrounding area,” he said.
