MIRI:  Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Development Datuk Rosey Yunus is optimistic about the future of the Sarawakiana Carnival.

“I believe with the right approach, it can get to the international level where we can showcase our unique traditional culture to the outside world,” she said at the opening ceremony of the carnival here Saturday.

The Sarawakiana Carnival’s 7th edition is themed “Sarawak Textile Heritage”.

This theme was chosen to showcase the uniqueness of Sarawak’s cultural and artistic heritage, history, customs, and traditions through various planned activities and programmes, including exhibitions, workshops, lectures, the sale of handicrafts, as well as local cuisine.

Hence, Rosey added, it is important that the carnival is promoted internationally.

“With some many practical ways, including making full use of today’s technologies, I strongly believe we can promote this festival at the international level,,” said Rosey who is Bekenu assemblywoman.

Also present was Pustaka Negeri Sarawak chairman Datuk Dr Abang Abdul Rauf Abang Zen.
