KUCHING: In the face of disputes and attempts to escape from home, the comforting embrace of a mother’s arms often becomes an irresistible pull, drawing the lost back to where they belong.

This happened last night (Oct 7) when a 13-year-old boy disappeared into the forest of Kampung Pinang Jawa, Gita following a disagreement with his mother.

Emotions run high as the runaway teen tightly hugs his mother upon his return from hiding in the village surau.

Around 10pm, after a dispute with his mother, the teenager fled into the forest. Concerned for his safety, the boy’s family and villagers went out to search for him.

However, after three hours of fruitless searching, the mother promptly reported her son’s disappearance at the Gita police station.

In response to the alert at 1.04am, firemen from Petra Jaya station were deployed to the scene to commence the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

The team thoroughly comb through the forest, spanning a radius of 500 metres, as well as the surrounding area near the surau.

Hope was rekindled at 2.48am when the teenager was discovered locked inside the men’s toilet at Kampung Pinang Jawa surau.
