PADAWAN: Sar-Alam Indah Sdn Bhd has sponsored RM20,000 to support the upcoming international category of the Padawan Raft Safari, set for October 22.
The sponsorship was handed over by Sar-Alam Indah Sdn Bhd managing director Bernard Yong to Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) chairman Tan Kai at PMC here today.
This event serves as an excellent platform to raise awareness about the vital role of rivers as primary sources of drinking water and their significance to various industries, including agriculture, eco-tourism, manufacturing, and hydroelectric power generation in Sarawak.
In addition to the rafting competition, the annual safari features other water-related activities that attract both locals and tourists to the Sarawak Kiri river area in Padawan.
Therefore, PMC and government agencies such as the Natural Resources and Environment Board, Health Department, Sarawak River Board, and Irrigation and Drainage Department regularly hold meetings with villagers along the river to promote awareness of the importance of maintaining river cleanliness and preventing various forms of pollution.
Present at the event were Padawan Raft Safari Organising Committee chairman Roselin Lasek; PMC deputy secretary (Management and Community Development), Henry Jalin Watt; and senior project coordinator of Sar-Alam Sdn Bhd, Gloria Chai.
