KUCHING: The Sarawak Government is still awaiting clarification from Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli regarding his proposed visit to the state to provide a briefing on the Central Database Hub (PADU).

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg when met today (Apr 11), mentioned that they have not received any updates from Rafizi regarding the PADU issue.

“So far, there is no (update), we are still waiting (for Rafizi to come to clarify the PADU issue),” he said at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said the matter had been previously discussed between Abang Johari and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“There is no (meeting) yet, our Premier did discuss with the prime minister about PADU.

“We will see how it is going to be implemented here in Sarawak,” she said when met by reporters at her Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Wisma SABATI earlier today.

Last month, Sarawak had postponed the registration of PADU due to concerns regarding data privacy.

The state government also sought a detailed explanation from the Finance Ministry on the matter.

Subsequently, Anwar instructed Rafizi to address the PADU registration issue with the Cabinet, in response to concerns raised by the Sarawak Government regarding the PADU system.
