Sarawak, Brunei officials discuss closer collaboration

KUCHING: Consul General of Brunei Darussalam, Noni Zurainah paid a courtesy call on Sarawak Minister for Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin at his office in Petra Jaya on Wednesday (May 10).

During the visit, Lee highlighted the need for closer collaboration between Sarawak and Brunei to resolve the congestion at the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS), especially at ICQS Sungai Tujuh.

Besides that, several issues pertaining to process and procedure on movement of goods were also discussed.

Apart from that, the ministry also wished to develop further the aviation sector between Sarawak and Brunei by enhancing flight connectivity.

It said both sides were looking at the possibility of expanding air connectivity to other parts of the world via Royal Brunei Airlines.

Noni expressed her appreciation for the efforts and initiatives taken by the ministry in enhancing collaboration between Sarawak and Brunei in the transportation sector.

According to her, all the matters discussed would be brought to the Brunei government to be further discussed.

Also at the meeting were MoTS permanent secretary Datuk Ir Alice Jawan Empaling, delegation members from the Consulate of Brunei Darussalam office Muhd Adib Yazid Mohd Zaini and Thomas Ling, and other ministry officials.
