KAPIT: Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP) Dato Pahlawan Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim paid a visit to Kapit on Wednesday.

Speaking at a briefing upon his arrival, he commended Kapit police for doing a good job in maintaining peace and order.

“I have attended a briefing earlier with Kapit police on the overall policing. I am happy to note that Kapit police led by chief DSP Freddy Bian and his team (rank and file) have done a good job. From the report I received, the crime rate and the security is under control. There is no major crime,” said DCP Dzuraidi.

He was asked later about the presence of large numbers of foreign workers at the proposed Baleh Dam construction site in Putai, Baleh River — it is expected that some 3,500 foreigners would be working here.

DCP Dzuraidi said, “We are monitoring the situation closely. As it is now, we have two platoons of PGA in Baleh. In addition, there are auxiliary policemen assigned by Sarawak Energy Berhad.

He stopped over at the Song police department to attend a security briefing before proceeding to Kapit.
