KUCHING: The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) Sarawak is currently implementing the “Whitening Period” programme, providing an opportunity for all employers to register their companies and employees.

In a press release today, it was announced that this programme started on May 1 and will end on June 30, prior to the enforcement of Ops Kesan in July.

Ops Kesan is being introduced to ensure that all employees receive the social security benefits they are entitled to.

As part of the programme, SOCSO has undertaken various activities, such as distributing brochures to businesses and conducting interviews on social media, to remind employers who have not registered their employees to visit the nearest SOCSO office and complete the registration process.

According to the statement, during the “whitening period,” employers who voluntarily register their companies and employees will not face penalties, charges, or late payment interest (FCLB), even if they have missed the registration and contribution deadline.

However, if employers fail to register during this period, SOCSO will take appropriate action against them without any exceptions.

SOCSO encourages eligible employers to take advantage of the “whitening period” and register their employees to avoid penalties and charges.

To register, employers can use the ASSIST portal app, visit any SOCSO office in Sarawak, or contact the SOCSO Careline at 1-300-22-8000.
