MALUDAM: Sarawak should be allocated between RM10 billion to RM20 billion in the upcoming Malaysia 2024 Budget.

Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Development II, Mohammad Razi Sitam said that the usual allocation of around RM4 billion to RM5 billion for Sarawak each year is still insufficient.

“We need at least in the range of RM10 billion to RM20 billion annually to expedite the implementation of infrastructure projects and other developments as a whole,” he told reporters after the launching ceremony of the new SK Maludam building by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here, today.

Regarding the anticipated large allocation for the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Health (MoH), Mohammad Razi described it as appropriate and welcomed, as these are two crucial areas.

“In the context of Sarawak, there is still a significant need for allocation to develop underprivileged schools.

“Similarly, in the health sector, especially for developing health clinics across Sarawak, where many small clinics need facility upgrades.

“Not just that, urban Sarawak still has a demand for specialists,” he added.
