KUCHING: Today, the Sarawak Merdeka 60 Years Digital Exhibition will begin. It is to celebrate the state’s 60 years of independence.

According to a press release issued by the Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU), the exhibition provides an interesting platform to introduce and promote the diversity of industry, art, creativity, as well as the main economic sectors that play an important role in the development of Sarawak.

“The exhibition is the result of the cooperation of various government agencies under the responsibility of the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and the Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and State Secretary and secretary of the 60th Anniversary of Sarawak Merdeka Celebration, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

“Also responsible for organising the exhibition is Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Syed Aman Ghazali who will ensure its smooth running in Kuching, Kota Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong and Sarikei,” the statement said.

It added that Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (Entrepreneur Development), Dr Ripin Lamat would be responsible for the smooth running of the exhibition in Limbang, Miri, Bintulu, Mukah and Kapit divisions.

“The Sarawak Merdeka 60 Years Digital Exhibition will present two main clusters, the Sarawak Digital Pavilion and PCDS 2030: Key Economic Sector and Enablers.

“Visitors will be able to explore and understand various key economic sectors and enablers that will shape Sarawak’s future,” the statement said.

Among the government agencies involved in the preparation of video content for the exhibition are the Sarawak Economic Planning Unit, Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Sarawak Museum Department, Sarawak Information Department and Sarawak State Library. They will deliver contents related to Sarawak’s development and achievements in various fields to visitors to the exhibition.

The Sarawak Merdeka 60 Years Digital Exhibition will take place in various locations throughout Sarawak on the following dates: Lawas, Limbang (Lawas Public Park): May 26 – 28, 2023, 8 am – 5 pm, Miri (Miri Indoor Stadium): June 9 – 11, 2023, 8 am – 5 pm, Bintulu (Bintulu Paragon Street Mall): June 9 – 11, 2023, 10am – 10pm, Sibu (Sibu Indoor Stadium): June 16 – 18, 2023, 8 am – 5 pm, Mukah (Dewan Mesra Mukah): June16 – 18, 2023, 8 am – 5 pm.

In Kapit (Kapit Town Square), the exhibition will take place from June 23 – 25, 2023, 8am – 5pm, Sarikei (Sarikei Auditorium): June 23 – 25, 2023, 8 am – 5 pm, Betong (Dewan Panglima Rentap): June 30 – July 2, 2023, 8 am – 5 pm, Sri Aman (Dewan Suarah Sri Aman): July 7 – 9, 2023, 8 am – 5 pm, Serian (Serian Conference Centre): July 14 – 16, 2023, 8 am – 5 pm, Kota Samarahan (Summer Mall): July 14 – 16, 2023, 10 am – 9 pm and Kuching (Plaza Merdeka): July 21 – 23, 2023, 10am – 10pm.
