LACHAU: The Sarawak Merdeka Convoy 2023 has reached its next destination in Pantu District, yesterday.

The convoy which travelled from Lubok Antu arrived at 10 am in Lachau Town and was warmly welcomed by the Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang along with department heads and community leaders in the district.

During his speech, Mong said it was important for Sarawakians to defend the peace, harmony and progress of the state.

“The state has achieved significant success and has more advanced achievements compared to other states in Malaysia.

“The leadership of Sarawak led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is very successful and far ahead of other states.

“The success can be seen in various fields including economic, infrastructure and social development,” he said.

Mong added that the development of infrastructure and socio-economy in Sarawak has undergone many proud changes.

As such, he hoped that the celebration of Sarawak’s independence this year would become the most important event in history and further increase the spirit of patriotism and love for the country.

In the same ceremony, Mong witnessed the symbolic handing over of the flag of 60 years of Sarawak independence which was handed over by the Deputy Resident of Sri Aman Division as the leader of the convoy, Elvis Didit to the Pantu District Officer, Langgong Wasam.

The convoy held in conjunction with the celebration of 60 years of Sarawak Independence, Sri Aman Division level involved 36 motorcycles and 15 vehicles.
