KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg officially launched Sarawak Pay Version 2.0 during the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2018 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here, yesterday.

Sarawak Pay is the state government Fintech platform that provides the technology for secured, fast and convenient mobile e-wallet and digital payment transactions. The initiative is one of the strategic actions to propel the state into the digital economy.

The new version of Sarawak Pay 2.0 rollout offers the additional features of wallet to wallet fund transfer, smart functions to split bill and to request payment from friends.

The other good news in the new version include the bigger wallet size of RM3,000. This means that users can finally top-up their e-wallet up to RM3,000 from their internet banking accounts of their choice.

All these are offered by the state government at Sarawak Pay platform for free at no transaction fee.

Merchants can also use Sarawak Pay to receive payments for their goods or services with a few simple steps. They can have their customers make payment to them with the new Scan and Pay feature.

Current version allows small business merchants to receive payment up to RM5,000 per month. Merchants with higher volume can contact the operator, SiliconNet Technologies Sdn Bhd (SNT) directly.

SNT is a subsidiary of SAINS which is wholly owned by the Sarawak State Government.

Abang Johari was accompanied by State Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, SMA General Manager, Dr Zaidi Razak, and SAINS chief executive officer, Dr Anderson Tiong at the Sarawak Pay booth.

To officiate the event, Abang Johari successfully performed an e-wallet to e-wallet fund transfer from a handphone to Morshidi Sarawak Pay wallet on his handphone.

There are presently over 25,000 registered Sarawak Pay users with over RM2.5 million transacted since Sarawak Pay was launched six months ago. The operations of Sarawak Pay is licenced and regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia.
