Sarawak records 140 new cases

KUCHING: The state has recorded a total of 140 Covid-19 positive cases today bringing the total number of cases to 14,514.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement stated that of the total, 52 cases were recorded in Miri; Sibu (36); Bintulu (27); Samarahan (5); Kapit (3); Sarikei (3); Julau (3); Kuching (2); Mukah (2); Limbang (2); Betong (2); Bau (1); Bukit Mabong (1); and Meradong (1).

Meanwhile, SDMC also stated that 192 new cases have recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

“A total of 76 patients have been discharged from Sibu Hospital; Miri Hospital (28); Sarawak General Hospital (25); Bintulu Hospital (22); Covid-19 treatment and quarantine centres (PKRC) in Kapit (17); PKRC Sri Aman (3); PKRC Mukah (2); and Limbang Hospital (1).

“This brings the total number of positive Covid-19 cases that have recovered and discharged to 11,797 people or 81.28 percent of the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state,” it said.

Meanwhile, 140 new patients-under-investigation (PUIs) have been reported where 88 of them have had close contact with positive cases.

“Twenty were screened through existing active clusters, another 20 cases were screened in health facilities and the remaining 12 were symptomatic cases screened at health facilities.”
