SARIKEI: The district of Sarikei is now progressing well, thanks to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government under Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said various high impact projects such as the construction of the Pasi road to Tanjung Manis, agro park and the collecting, processing and packaging centre (CPPC) have been approved by Abang Johari.

With that, he said those projects would certainly bring positive impact to Sarikei and subsequently benefit the people in the area.

“This year, a total of 42 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects have been planned in the Repok area covering schools, churches and temples.

“Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our chief minister for always being concerned with the needs of the people and has provided allocationd to develop Sarikei,” he said at the Sepakat@Komuniti Programme organised by the Malaysia Information Department (JaPen) at the Federation of Sarawak Women’s Association (PPWS) office here today.

On another note, with the national month themed ‘Malaysia Prihatin’ this year, Huang urged Malaysians to remain united.

“I would like to call upon all to always appreciate and remember the services of previous leaders in achieving the country’s independence,” he said.

He also urged the people to fly the Jalur Gemilang, be it at home, business premises, on cars or any other suitable places to show love and loyalty to the country, especially since the nation would be celebrating Malaysia Day on September 16.

Meanwhile, the annual Sepakat@Komunity Programme is organised to empower the community through involvement in government-organised activities.

In addition, it is to increase the people’s understanding of the government’s various policies, initiatives and campaigns.
