Security guards act quickly to extinguish car fire

KUCHING: The swift and decisive actions by six security guards of Borneo Cultures Museum here successfully extinguished a car fire that broke out at the museum’s car park today.

In a commendable act of bravery, the guards managed to prevent total destruction to the parked Proton Persona at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg.

It was reported that the six guards quickly sprang into action and used 11 fire extinguishers to put out the flames, which had engulfed the car’s engine part.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Padungan station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distressed call at 2.55 pm.

However, the fire had been completely extinguished before they arrived at the scene.

The team only monitored the situation and made ensure that it was safe before heading back to their station.

No injuries or casualties were reported during the incident. The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
