KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) was awarded the “Low Carbon Transport Project of the Year” at Enlit Asia annual conference held in Jakarta, Indonesia recently.

SEDC in a statement today said that the accolade was conferred in recognition of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) Smart Tram by Sarawak Metro, a fully owned subsidiary of SEDC.

“Enlit Asia is the unifying brand for POWERGEN Asia and Asian Utility Week, is a platform for leading industry providers to showcase innovative solutions, services, and products in line with the Asian strategy to transition to a low- carbon energy supply.

“The Low Carbon Transport award category includes any significant contribution to the development of efficient, cost-effective low carbon mobility solutions, or projects that have supported the development or growth of non-ICE transportation across the region,” said the statement.

SEDC said that the recognition is a testament to the visionary leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
