KUALA LUMPUR: The Senate Reform Working Committee is capable of uniting Dewan Negara members who have different political ideologies to achieve more national development.

Senator Mohd Yusmadi Mohd Yusoff who is the committee chairman said the committee members were appointed regardless of their party affiliations as long as they could provide positive proposals to reform the Dewan Negara.

“The total number of opposition Senators which is more than government senators is not the main issue as it is the interest of the people which is the priority. If we could instill this in the foundation of the reformation, there will be no winners-take-all in the administration.

“We also want to educate the people on the functions of the Dewan Negara which many members of the public are not aware of. Senators represent the various ethnic groups and various strata of society including the disabled,” he said when met after appearing as a guest of “Ruang Bicara” on Bernama News Channel here yesterday.
