KUCHING: HAUS KCH, in collaboration with various artists, organisations and associations, is organising the ‘Seni Kita Weekend’ at the Old Court House here to raise awareness about the importance of mental health.

The two-day event — on Saturday (May 20) and Sunday (May 21) from 10am to 10pm — will feature panel discussions with professionals from mental health organisations such as The Inner Lynk, Mental Health Association of Sarawak (MHAS), Dee Hati Centre for Grief, Bereavement and Trauma, Kuching Autistic Association, and a certified educational counselor.

Additionally, there will be art activities for both children and adults, an exclusive teatime fine dining experience by Chef Achang Libat and his team, an art market showcasing artisanal goods and crafts, and live music performances by JayC Ho with his RnB Live Session called ‘Ruai Biru’.

Other performers include Sarawakian RnB legends Ila Damiaa, Adi Johar, TikTok sensation Roxy Ixzy, and rising stars Aerron Teo, Florianne Juseng, Aap, HK, and Ezriana Razalie.

Syed Rusydie, co-founder and director of HAUS Kuching, expressed his hope that the public would become aware of the accessible and non-judgmental mental health services available in Kuching.

He emphasised that the event aimed to create a safe space where people could seek help and support without fear of judgment.

The event will feature 40 Pasar Seni Kita vendors displaying their artwork for sale or custom orders.
Several art vendors will also conduct interactive workshops to engage the public in learning new skills and creating unique art pieces.

Syed aimed to attract around 5,000 visitors over the two days, taking advantage of the busy weekend at the Kuching Waterfront. He also revealed that the upcoming ‘Seni Kita Weekend’ in September would focus on subcultures as its main theme.

‘Seni Kita Weekend: Mental Health May’ is a collaborative effort between HAUS KCH, The Inner Lynk, and Old Court House, with sponsorship from Sarawak Metro and HERO AVL, and support from Hikari Riders, AISEC Kuching, and Ngirupp.
