Senior citizen gets jail for throwing a punch

KUCHING: A senior citizen who bloodied the nose of his son’s employer for telling him to shape up at work will spend the next two months in prison.

Rajiee Hassan pleaded guilty to intentionally causing injury to Simon Yau, 50, when his case came up before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

The 66-year-old accused committed the crime at a project site in Jalan Tanjung Bako around 10.30am on March 16.

According to the facts of the case, while at the project site around 7.45am,Yau, who is the site supervisor, instructed an employee (Rajiee’s son) under his supervision to work more diligently and to come to work early.

He decided to advise the employee who had only worked for the construction company for three months, so that he might be confirmed as a permanent employee.

Some time later around 10.30am, Yau was suddenly approached by Rajiee who then punched him in the nose, causing it to bleed.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted while Rajiee was not represented.
