KUCHING: A van and an air-conditioning unit were destroyed in fire incidents at two different locations on Monday (Apr 5).
A spokesman from the State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said the first incident involving the van occurred at Jalan Tun Razak near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Pending.
Padungan firemen were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 9.34am.
Upon arrival, the fire had destroyed the van and its driver managed to escape unhurt.
The second incident happened around 10.30am and it involved a meeting room at SMK Tabuan Jaya at Jalan Wan Alwi here.
Tabuan Jaya firemen were deployed to the scene and found out that the air-conditioning unit was destroyed. The fire had caused five percent damage to the wall.
The causes of the fire at both locations are still under investigation.
