SERIAN: The three water treatment plants in the division have the capacity to meet the demands of the residents, said Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

The Minister for Utility and Telecommunications said the treatment plants, namely in Slabi, Tapah and Balai Ringin, have more than enough capacity to meet the water needs of the people.

“As a matter of fact, they have the capacity to supply to several areas outside Serian, including Gedong, Simunjan and even Kota Samarahan.

“The water treatment plants have a capacity of over 110 million litres per day (MLD) and supply water to 35,000 domestic consumers in Serian now,” he told reporters after a site visit to the Slabi water treatment plant here yesterday (July 20).

He also said there are plans to supply clean water to more areas in the division, and for that his ministry is looking into ways to construct more distribution water pipes.

“The distribution pipes are for areas that have not received the water supply as well.
