BAU: Voting trend from each of the district polling centre for Serembu constituency during the 12th state election is being analysed.

Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh said that the analysis was important as preparation for Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) battle for the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

“The analysis will take into account the pattern involving young voters and first-time voters,” he said.

Miro also pointed out that voters aged 18 to 21 did not make the largest number of voters but rather those who had not registered as voters.

“Ages between 25 and 50 make up a huge number of the unregistered and we don’t know their voting pattern.

“After this we need to analyse based on the decision from each polling centre and this is important for us to prepare for any election in the future.”

Miro spoke to the media after a dialogue between Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa’ee and SK Serembu Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) on Thursday (Nov 10).

Miro, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Youth chief, added that new voters at the moment did not have a clear choice on which party to vote for.

He also did not rule out the addition of voting channels during GE15 due to Undi18 and the automatic registration of new voters.

“For instance, previously we only had two channels. Now we might have to add up to four voting channels.”

Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency currently has as many as 79,969 registered voters for GE15 compared to 46,180 voters in GE14.
