SIBURAN: Set aside disputes and avoid sabotage to ensure victory of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate in the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency in the 15th general election (GE15) on November 19.

This is the call from three members of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn (Tarat), Datuk Dr Jerip Susil (Mambong) and Miro Simuh (Tarat).

Sagah, the Minister for Education, Science and Talent Development, said GPS should win since the candidate for the Puncak Borneo seat is the incumbent and is known to the voters in the area.

“He (Willie) has served the people in Puncak Borneo and I believe the voters will support him, after all two other assemblymen Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and Miro Simuh will work hard to ensure the victory of the GPS candidate,” he told reporters after the nomination for the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat at the Siburan District Office here yesterday.

Sagah, however, reminded all party workers to work hard.

Regarding the possibility of sabotage from several parties, including individuals who had previously lobbied to become GPS candidates in the Puncak Borneo seat, Sagah said that it would not happen because PBB is a disciplined party that always abide by the party’s principles.

“We will sit down together and discuss to solve any problems and dissatisfaction.

“I believe they are good individuals and will fully support our candidate,” he added.

Meanwhile, Miro said all parties should forget any previous differences.

“My appeal is that we fully support the GPS candidate (Willie Mongin) because as the Premier of Sarawak said, our struggle is to defend and fight for the interests and rights of Sarawak,” added Miro.

Meanwhile, Dr Jerip who is Deputy Minister for Transport said the race for the Puncak Borneo Parliamentary seat is not an individual struggle but a struggle for the state of Sarawak as a whole.

“We understand that this is a democratic practice and many are interested in becoming a candidate, but please ignore these personal matters because the important thing is that we work together so that GPS candidate (Willie) can win,” he added.

Meanwhile Willie thanked the Premier of Sarawak and the leadership of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and GPS components including Sagah, Dr Jerip and Miro for giving him the opportunity to continue the struggle in the Puncak Borneo constituency to raise and fly the GPS flag.

“I humbly apologise if I hurt the feelings of my friends on the other side (opposing party),” he added.

Willie explained that the struggle in the GE this time is to respond to the challenge of the Premier of Sarawak to bring more GPS leaders and representatives to Parliament.

“I understand that victory is not only for Willie Mongin alone but GPS victory for us to bring more GPS representatives to Parliament so that we can dignify the demands at the federal level.

“This victory is also for the people of Sarawak and if there is sabotage, it is not only sabotage on me as a candidate, but also to GPS.

“However, I was told that they will also give strong support and I am very grateful to those who also lobbied to become candidates before.

“They all have potentials, maybe one day they will also get a chance to be candidates.

“We must work together for a victory in the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat,” he added.

He also called on the voters in Puncak Borneo to give him strong support in this general election.
