SITUATION at SK Sg Liuk Balingian.

MUKAH: The flood that has hit the area around here since last two days or so has caused the authority to close seven primary schools in this district yesterday.

These schools include SK Kampung Jebungan with 153 pupils,17 teachers and four support staff ; SK Kampung Sau(65 people), SK Kampung Teh(152 people), SK Sungai Liuk(150 people), SK Kuala Kenyana(63 people), SJKC Ek Hua (97 people) and SK Penakub Ulu with 97 people too.

All tese schools which are located in Mukah District are under the jurisdiction of the Mukah District Education Department.

It is learnt that if the situation worsens the affected schools would remain close until the water subsides to a certain level.

Meanwhile, three evacuation centres were opened in this fast growing district since Sunday af ternoon, namely, Dewan Suarah Mesra in Mukah and two in Balingian Sub-District, at SK Parish and Community Hall of Kuala Balingian.

As at about 3pm yesterday 107 evacuees (flood victims) from 17 families at SK Parish, 82 persons from 41 families at Kuala Balingian, and three persons from two families were placed at Dewan Suara Mukah.
