BAU: Seven individuals were rescued after they were stranded in a forest at Adis Buan Resort, Kampung Segong here last Sunday (Oct 4).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre received a distress call at 6.17pm after witnesses realised that the group had yet to return to the resort after leaving for the forest for recreational activities.

Following the call, a team of firefighters from Bau Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the scene to search for the group.

It was reported that there were no government integrated radio network (GIRN) coverage and no phone communication access at the location.

At around 9.30pm, operations commander PKPgB Tawang Lingem reported that the group was found safely at Stage 1 and that it took 45 minutes to reach the location.

The stranded victims, comprising four men and three women, aged between 20 and 65, were not injured but fatigued.

The victims were taken out of the forest by the firefighters at 1.01am (the next day) and were given health examination by Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel.
