KUCHING: Those undergoing self-quarantine at home for coronavirus symptoms must not share eating utensils with anyone, says Sarawak Operations Room.

Apart from eating separately and not sharing utensils, they must also isolate themselves in the room, put on a face mask when going into a common area of the house and maintain a distance of at least one metre (over three feet) from people around them, according to an advisory released yesterday.

Sharing utensils is not recommended while under quarantine.

Those undergoing quarantine must not go to public places, the operations room advisory reminded.

“In case you need food or groceries, please get help from your other family members.

“In case there is no family member around, you may try to get food delivered to your doorstep.

“Wash your hands, put on a face mask and stand at least one metre from the delivery man,” it continued.

The advisory also stated that in the event of any issue arising from getting food, they must inform the quarantine officer prior to the quarantine to facilitate arrangements.

They should also practise good cough etiquette and hygiene, drink lots of water and consume Vitamin C as well as have sufficient rest.

“If you develop symptoms, put on a face mask and go to the nearest hospital for assessment.

“If you don’t have transport, call 999 for ambulance assistance,” said the advisory.

The operations room can be contacted 24 hours a day at 082-443 991.
