KUCHING: The annual SHEDA Property Expo, touted as the largest property expo in Sarawak, is now open for registration to exhibitors.

Organised by the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA), the event will be held from July 14  to 16  at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

Expo organising chairman Steve Tan Chen Hang said the event is an important one as it provides a platform and opportunity for developers to seek and capture sales leads from prospective purchasers who otherwise may not have a chance to view their products.

“Developers are encouraged to use the exposure to engage in face-to-face interactions, build brand awareness, and foster client loyalty.

“In addition to the usual offerings, the expo committee is also working on arrangements to provide additional services to streamline the loan application process for potential property buyers during the three-day weekend.

“Visitors may have the opportunity to check their credit score rating and initiate the loan application process onsite, with interested agencies offering advice on improving credit status,” Tan told a press conference.

He said  first-time homeowners can look forward to the i-Miliki stamp duty exemption under the federal government’s Home Ownership Programme (HOPE), which provides selected stamp duty exemptions for residential properties priced up to RM1 million.

“Although mechanisms for implementation have yet to be announced as at the date of the Expo launch, it is believed that the financial incentive will spur first-time purchasers to take action before the campaign period expires.

“However, it is important to note that the sale and purchase agreement (S&P) must be signed by Dec 31 2023 to qualify for this incentive,” Tan added.

Besides property developers, Tan also invited non-property developers to participate, especially if featured products complemented or enhanced the experience of property ownership.

All interested exhibitors are encouraged to book early to secure preferred locations and early bird discounts which are available until May 5.

The expo is anticipated to draw a significant turnout of exhibitors and visitors alike, as it continues to meet the property needs of Sarawakians and drive growth in the local property market.
