SIBU: Members of Sacred Heart School Old Students’ Association (Shosa) donated three-ply cotton face masks to their alma mater last Saturday (Mar 13).
This was part of a programme to mark the school’s 120th anniversary.
The association in a statement today (Mar 14) said the 200 pieces of face masks customised with the school badge are meant for teachers, student leaders and underprivileged students.
In the statement, project chairman and alumnus Anthony Chan said he was taken aback with the tremendous support extended by former students.
“It has given me a lot of motivation, as this was my first project as one of the three vice presidents of Shosa, and seeing how passionate former students are in helping out, is truly inspiring,” he said.
Shosa also aims to organise a total of 12 events for the year, with the grand reunion dinner in the final quarter of 2021 as the finale.
“However, for now, all plans are on the backburner, until the current pandemic has subsided and the authorities have given the green light to proceed,” it said.
For the last decade, Shosa has been hosting mega reunion dinners in April annually. Last year however, the association cancelled the event even before the authorities announced strict measures, including the eventual lockdown to battle Covid-19.
“Former students from Sacred Heart School and St Elizabeth School are known to be very close to their alma maters. The alumni from both schools have always worked together, with resounding success, for their annual reunions,” it added.
