Six dengue cases reported in Kota Padawan

KUCHING: Six dengue cases were reported in Kota Padawan (Mile 10) for the period between Aug 22 and today.

In light of this, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang called on the people in the area to look after the cleanliness of their surroundings.

“We all know mosquitoes can breed at an exponential rate as long as there is water retention used as breeding grounds for the mosquitoes.

“Fortunately, over the years we have learned to overcome and control the spread of dengue by reducing mosquito population,” he said during the Dengue Awareness Campaign held at the school hall of SJK(C) Chung Hua Batu 10 here today.

At the same time, he also encouraged the school pupils to be aware and to understand about dengue mosquitoes and dengue fever.

“The school will be having their gotong-royong and this is why this campaign is important so that they are able to put their knowledge into good practice to make sure the school environment is free from being breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

“And I also encourage the students to share this knowledge to their respective family members at home and be ambassadors to teach others about eradicating dengue mosquitoes,” he added.

Also present during the awareness campaign were SJK(C) Chung Hua Batu 10 headmaster Hiew Siaw Chew; SJK(C) Chung Hua Batu 10 management board chairman Lim Eng Huat, Kapitan Lim Eng Kok and Kuching Division Vector Borne Disease Control Unit medical officer and speaker of the awareness campaign, Dr Muhammad Hafiz Johari.
