SPAOH: SK Nanga Gayau’s new building costing RM7 million is expected to be ready by January next year.

The three-storey building will house classrooms, teachers’ quarters, science laboratories, office and other facilities.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also Bukit Saban state assemblyman, and Betong Member of Parliament Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat visited the school today to check on the progress of the project.

They were accompanied by political secretary to the chief minister, Dr Richard Rapu.

“The school which is by the side of the Pan Borneo Highway has 128 students. Parts of its present building will be affected by the construction of the highway,” he said.

The construction of the new building started in July last year.

On the same day as the visit, Uggah and Chuat also went to two longhouses to check on their rural transformation projects.

Even earlier than that, they paid their last respects to Tuai Rumah Benedict Blaki Lawrence Sanggat at his longhouse at Tanjung Baru in Paku near here.
