BSH recipients queuing to collect their money.

MUKAH: Hundreds of people, namely the recipients of Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) converged at Dewan Suarah Mesra here yesterday to collect their money.

Payment for second and third phase of BSH began yesterday and ends today.

The authorities, however, disallowed the press from taking any photographs featuring the payment process inside the hall.

New Sarawak Tribune discovered that the payment process was obtuse, looking at the pace of movement of recipients waiting in the queue outside the hall.

A recipient identified only as Tilla in her 50s, said she had been waiting in the queue since 8.30am until 1pm.

She added by this time (11.30am-1.30pm), payment for the second session should have been in progress.

“However, we in the first session have not finished yet, while the queue is still long,” she told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

Meanwhile, Denis Tani suggested that in future the authorities should arrange payments separately in specific locations, instead of at one place only, for the convenience of senior citizens and those coming from far places.

“I am still waiting for my turn which has been scheduled from 11.30am to 1.30pm, but until now at 12.55pm our scheduled session has not begun,” the 50-year self-employed man said.

His colleague, Ellan Jinun also agreed with his (Denis) suggestion.

The 52-year-old, also self-employed, hoped that the payment system be improved for the convenience of all.
