KUCHING: The first day of the third session of the first term of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Monday (Nov 21) proceeded smoothly, starting at about 9.05am.

Shortly after commencement, Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar called on House members to observe a minute of silence in memory of leaders in Sarawak who have passed away.

Following this was the first reading of six Bills – Supply (2023) Bill; Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) (No.2) Bill; Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board Bill; Electronic Sarawak Government Activities Bill; Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill; and Veterinary Public Health (Amendment) Bill.

Next, came the second reading and tabling of the Supply (2023) Bill by Finance and New Economy Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Following this, Deputy Minister of Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas seconded the tabling of the Bill.

The DUN sitting adjourned at 11:55 am. It will reconvene on Tuesday (Nov 22).
