KUCHING: Kuching Life Care Society has called on major corporations and the public to provide crucial financial support for the completion of the Hospice and Palliative Care Centre in Batu Kawa here.

After more than a decade of construction, the building still required an additional RM5 million to finish the development, according to Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai.

“Rising costs of building materials, medical equipment and hospital beds have contributed to the funding gap.

“By donating to this non-governmental organisation (NGO), the public and major corporations can help ensure the completion of the building without further setbacks,” said Tan during a press conference after witnessing

the handover of water tanks from Weida Resources (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd to the NGO at the construction site recently.

MPP had pledged its assistance in obtaining the necessary licences and working closely with the engineering team to expedite the construction process, he added.

Kuching Life Care Society president Hung Sung Huo revealed that the initial budget for the project was RM19 million and hoped for its completion by the end of this year.
