Society contributes 250 food baskets to needy

KUCHING: Che Chuan Khor Simanggang Moral Uplifting Society has delivered 250 packs of food baskets to the needy during the food aid programme at Che Chuan Khor Hall in Simanggang.

The distribution of the food baskets was held in conjunction with the Hungry Ghost Festival.

Present to handover the food aid was Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development II (Talent Development) Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who is also the Simanggang assemblyman.

The food aid programme organising chairmanTay Cho Seng conveyed his appreciation to Harden for his involvement in the procession held in
conjunction with the Ghost Festival and also the food aid programme.

“We thank Datuk for his support to the society all the time, in the form of monetary and also physical and mental support,” Tay said.

He also thanked all the sponsors for their kindness in sponsoring the food items.

“For this food aid programme, it is mainly held to give welfare aid to the needy. The Chinese believe that during the Hungry Ghost Festival they must worship their ancestors and also to help the needy.

“Therefore, people are encouraged to do good deeds especially during the Hungry Ghost Festival,” he said.
