KUCHING: KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital yesterday held its annual Circumcision Day at Klinik Waqaf An-Nur Semariang in conjunction with the school holidays.

The clinic, supervised by KPJ Healthcare Berhad, charged a minimum amount for the procedure as part of the hospital’s corporate social responsibility (CSR). Parents who registered their children need to pay only RM80 for the service.

Thirty-five boys aged 10 to 12 from various religious and racial backgrounds were circumcised. Each received a special cupcake and gifts from KPJ Kuching after the procedure.

Parents came as early as 8.30am to Klinik Waqaf with their children to show support.

The hospital’s general manager Nurhazimah Mahat said the hospital constantly promoted a healthy lifestyle to the community.

“Circumcision will decrease the risk of urinary infection. Thus, parents should consider registering their children.

“This year, we had more inquiries from the public and slots allocated were filled up in just one day after the registration opened.
