KAPIT: State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion chaired a briefing session for all heads of state departments and agencies at the State Office Complex here recently.

“This is part of my regular visits to the Divisional and District Offices to meet the officers on the ground to understand the issues and problems they encountered in our efforts to improve the delivery system to the people,” he told the press.

Kapit Resident Nyurak Keti gave a development briefing on projects in Kapit.

He highlighted the implementation and challenges in the course of the implementation of the projects.

Among the pressing issues he raised were the shortage of manpower to implement and supervise the projects. He pointed out that there were many vacancies in other departments such as the Land and Survey Department (L & S), Public Works Department (PWD) and Agriculture Department which had not been filled.

He added that PWD recruited some staff on a temporary basis to supervise the on-going projects. Some left the services half way through because they were able to find new jobs.

Present at the briefing were Kapit Resident (Development) Galong Luang; Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut; Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga; Song District Officer Jacklyn August; Belaga District Officer Juan Bit; administrative officers from Resident and District Offices Wee Teck Min, Belayong Piok, Alexander Steward Sawing, Irene Merang, Bidah Lujah, Mohd Shukri, Julius Sapong and several heads of government departments.

Later in the evening, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing, his wife Puan Sri Corrine Masing and State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion attended a Chap Goh Mei celebration hosted by businessman Ling Hang Kee at his residence here.

Ling is a successful businessman operating a café. He is also involved in road construction along a section of Jalan Mujong-Putai, Baleh in the Bukit Mabong District.

Also present at the celebration were Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong; Kapit Resident Nyurak Keti; Deputy Kapit Resident Galong Luang; Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut; Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga and OCPD Kapit DSP Freddy Bian.

The guests were welcomed by the lion dance troupes from the Che Quan Khor Moral Uplifting Society.
