State earns special integrity accolade

PUTRAJAYA: The Sarawak government was honoured with the Special Integrity Award at the 2023 Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Awards (AIGA) Ceremony, hosted by the Malaysian Integrity Institute (IIM) at Perbadanan Putrajaya recently.

The award was presented by Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, the Second Finance Minister, on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Receiving the award for Sarawak was Datuk Dr. Juanda Jaya, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) or UNIONS.

AIGA aims to celebrate organisations in the public and private sectors that are dedicated to upholding and enhancing integrity, governance, and anti-corruption practices. The 2023 edition featured several categories, including Bronze, Silver, Gold, Highest Gold, and Platinum Awards.

Sarawak was well represented with 12 government agencies and Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) participating. Notably, the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) secured the Highest Gold Award, placing in the top five.

Gold Award recipients included the State Land and Survey Department (LSD), Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), and Sarawak Shariah Judiciary Department.

The Silver Award was bestowed upon the Islamic Religious Department Sarawak, LAKU Management Sdn Bhd, and the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government.

Bronze Awards went to the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (SALCRA), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), and Miri City Council (MCC).

Additionally, the state Department of Irrigation and Drainage was recognised with a certificate of participation.

Also present was UNIONS director Semawi Mohamad.
